"Give 1 Get 1" only $399.00

If I could afford to, I would "Give 999 and Get 1", not kidding. I think even though the cost has inched up to twice it's original target, this is by far the biggest attempt to equalize and level the learning playground.

**** Give 1 Get 1 ***** the philanthropist's gift giving wish as Christmas (Holiday Season) approaches.
Direct link: http://www.xogiving.org/ I don't have a clue or any details but Quanta Computers the company that makes the One Laptop Per Child machine will release a consumer version.

OLPC
There is (or was) a video input. It comes with a built in camera. http://www.laptop.org/laptop/

Here are the Specs.

I really like the idea of graphical interfaces (like Kartoo and a few other examples) """SUGAR""", a “zoom” interface that graphically captures their world of fellow learners and teachers as collaborators, emphasizing the connections within the community, among people, and their activities." These screen shots look like the UI is very intuitive, giving a universal style symbol for easy navigation. Clean.... Smart.

OLPC is using Open Source for the OS and allowing the owner a lot of control. Only thing unclear is how much Java and Flash the OLPC will support

I need more time to read more ... I'll bounce back with details ... until then ...

Here comes Scrooge ...

It would have been nice to provide an option for the donor to select (one to three - first choice second choice third choice) a preferred destination(s) for the donated Laptop. Only reason, there are too many kids in this country without a computer. I know, I am selfish like that.
